Who would be the audience for your media product?
When we think about who it is our film is aimed at it's easier to imagine a hypothetical person to represent our target audience.
I see the person we aim our film at to be a 40 something male, more than likely struggling with some form of crisis (well, who isn't?), stuck in a stereotypical wall-on-wall office with perhaps with more than a fleeting interest in films. He would prefer the quieter and simple but thought-provoking style of, for instance, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford over the more complex/really weird style of say David Lynch. Someone who thought I Heart Huckabee's was too 'out there' and that About Schmidt was powerful and moving (it wasn't for the record, and Broken Flowers was much better). Oh, and he never finished reading 1984 because it was too bleak, yet loved Brazil. Come to think of it I think our media product might be aimed at my dad...

- Who would be the target audience for your media product?
We are targeting our film opening at avid cinema goers or film buffs. There are several unifying characteristics of this group although it largely transcends gender, race and socio-economic grouping. Film forms a large part of their perception of themselves and the wider world. They are likely to self-define themselves as being film buffs or similar. Although they enjoy being ‘entertained’ by films their engagement goes beyond this. They see film as a source of art and information as well as escapism and spectacle. They frequently attend film festivals and programmed seasons and are drawn towards independent cinemas. Their social life is often geared around film in some ways. They often collect memorabilia to do with films, search out hard to find titles and read film related books and magazines. They might have favourite directors that they follow, or even a favourite national cinema but they tend to watch a wide range of film that goes beyond genre etc.
